Starseed Kindercottage

Starseed Kindercottage is a Waldorf inspired program in a family environment where children can enjoy a home from home experience and can feel safe and nurtured. Each child is unique with individual needs, which are recognized and met. Ensuring that children are not rushed, our programme is designed so that the children are allowed space to develop the necessary skills which will form the foundations for lifelong learning.
Age-appropriate activities, which help to integrate the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social domains of development, are included in the program, where children learn through imitation – the easiest and most holistic way to learn. The children’s cognitive development and artistic expression is supported by the use of rich language – through songs, rhymes, and stories. This, in turn, developes their memory and active listening skills.
There is a daily rhythm and routine with flexibility that provides a variety of experience to encourage gross and fine motor skills, health and safety awareness. Uninterrupted creative play provides the children with opportunities for developing their imagination and concentration. Through play, children explore and investigate, as well as learn social skills and qualities like sharing, respect, and empathy.
Surrounded by warm colours with a cozy couch, a seasonal nature table, handmade dolls and puppets, wooden animals and toys, there is the opportunity to develop healthy senses of sight and touch. Only natural materials are used for play - the softness of wool, velvet and silk, roughness of sand and warmth of wood. Smells of bread baking, apples drying, nourishing organic vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains to eat at snack time and lunch, allow the children a wholesome experience in this warm environment.
